Bentley Parish Council have issued this Press Release -
Press Release – 25/04/2025
Bentley Parish Council are pleased that Babergh District Council have seen fit to designate the Bentley Conservation Area.
We hope this will help to preserve and enhance this area in the north of our parish with its rare collection of heritage assets including Grade 1, 2* and 2 listed buildings as well as a large number of non-designated heritage assets and having the highest number of named ancient woodlands of any parish in Suffolk.
This area is very precious and has a unique heritage dating back to the Domesday Book. Through its network of footpaths, bridleways and rural lanes residents and visitors can experience stunning vistas and the natural world in a tranquil environment and fully appreciate the heritage within its rural setting. We hope the Conservation Area will help protect this wonderful asset, preserving it for future generations and help to avoid inappropriate development.
We understand that Suffolk County Council have deferred their decision on the Brockley Wood Quarry application that was due to be made yesterday and are now reconsidering the application as a result of this designation.
